A range of activities will be organized for students and young professionals between the ages of 18-35 during the 20th World Petroleum Congress. These activities will offer a unique opportunity to learn more about the petroleum industry and engage with high-level experts from around the world.

The Youth Programme for the 20th WPC consists of:
Youth Special Session – A special session in the Congress programme is dedicated to youth. Designed and developed by members of the WPC Youth Committee the session will bring together industry leaders and young people to address the issues discussed on the online platform under the theme of “Youth in the Energy Future”.
Student Grant Programme – an initiative that sponsors 65 students from around the globe to attend the 20th WPC.
WPC Youth Connect - is the online discussion platform designed to give young people the opportunity to interact with each other and share their thoughts on different scenarios relating to the oil and gas industry. Join the discussion at www.wpcyouthconnect.com
Youth Party - Party time in the desert! The Youth Party will be held on the night of 7th of December in the desert with an Arabic setting and many activities that reflect Qatari culture. This is to show the appreciation to the youth and their involvement in the 20th World Petroleum Congress. Pick up your invitation from the Youth Stand at the exhibition.
Youth Lounge - will be a gathering place for young people to network and share their ideas and thoughts. Daily presentations, job profiles and discussions will be held around the scenarios that were discussed on the online discussion platform (WPC Youth Connect). The Youth Lounge is situated at Stand No. 3226 in Hall 3.
Technology Showcase Tours - Tours include Upstream, Downstream and Midstream exploration. Tour schedules are available in the Youth Lounge where the tours commence from.
WPC Excellence Awards for Youth - The World Petroleum Council recognizes the importance of young people to the energy industry by rewarding the best young authors of the Congress. This year the 20th World Petroleum Congress Organizing Committee will choose the best abstracts submitted by young people under 35. Over US$10,000 in prize money will be awarded to the best youth presenters, with the winner receiving US$5,000, while second and third place will be granted US$3,000 each and fourth place US$1,500.

Youth Committee
The World Petroleum Council recognizes the importance for the industry to attract and retain young talent, and has formed a Youth Committee with twenty young representatives of the World Petroleum Council’s National Committees to gain their input into World Petroleum Council’s strategy of addressing youth around the world.
The new Youth Committee was elected during the 2008 Council meeting and plays a major role in planning for the 20th World Petroleum Congress taking place in Doha in 2011.
