The Sustainable Stand Award
The Sustainable Stand Awards have been won by Oryx GTL Ltd (above 200m2 ) and Energy Institute (below 200m2)
The organizers of the 20th World Petroleum Congress are pleased to announce the Sustainable Stands Award (SSA), aimed at promoting a sustainable presence for companies during the 20th WPC Exhibition. For the first time in the history of the World Petroleum Congress Exhibition, the SSA will recognize companies for their efforts in reducing their environmental footprint.
The award will acknowledge the exhibitor that the judges believe makes the best use of the 3 R’s (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) and in doing so has made the largest effort to have a sustainable presence at the Exhibition. This could include, for example, innovative ways to build the stand, reduce general waste, an innovative delegate gift or the innovative use of energy-efficient lighting. There will be one award for stands below 200m2 and one award for stands above 200m2.
The judging panel will consist of members from Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and local non-government organizations. In assessing the Sustainable Stand Award, judges will consider:
- The extent to which the stand utilizes recycled materials.
- Efforts made to reduce waste from the stand – during construction, during the Exhibition and after the Exhibition.
- Innovation and originality of concept.
- Efforts made to reuse part, or all, of the stand.
- How the stand communicates its sustainable features to the Exhibition visitors.
- The proportion of materials sourced from local suppliers.
- Novelty and originality: Does the stand have an original or novel design that has not been seen at previous Congresses or similar events?
- Wow factor: Is there something striking about the stand that immediately impresses delegates or visitors to the stand?
- Pillars of Sustainability (social, environmental, economic): Does the stand embrace all of the pillars of sustainability? How?
