Energy Solutions for All – Promoting Cooperation, Innovation and Investment is the theme for the 20th World Petroleum Congress, which for the first time in its long history will be held in the Middle East, in Doha, Qatar, from 4 to 8 December 2011. Hosted by Qatar Petroleum, the congress is the foremost international oil and gas gathering in the world.

Call for Papers
The invitation to submit abstracts for papers and posters for the wide ranging congress programme was made in April 2010 and there has already been a great interest in submissions. Director General of the World Petroleum Council, Dr Pierce Riemer is pleased with the response: “We have received incredible interest in our technical programme. It seems that everyone we talk to wants to come to Doha in 2011. This is going to be a truly memorable congress.”

WPC Explore, the first edition of the 20th World Petroleum Congress printed newsletter has just been published and includes in-depth Question and Answer interviews with Qatar’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy & Industry, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Shell plc.
Abdulla Hussain Salatt, Chairman Qatar National and Organising Committee for the 20th World Petroleum Congress, notes that the newsletter includes: “relevant industry articles and insight into the fast growing development in Qatar. WPC Explore will also highlight iconic tourist destinations and information to help you plan your visit to Qatar.”
