Between 4th and 8th December 2011, Doha will be full of excitement as dignitaries and delegates from around the world gather at the Qatar National Convention Centre for the 20th World Petroleum Congress. And no group involved with the event will be as enthusiastic as the volunteer workforce.

For the first time in Congress history, the 20th World Petroleum Congress will have a Sustainable Stands Award (SSA), aimed at promoting a sustainable presence for companies during the 20th WPC Exhibition.

The SSA will recognise two companies for their efforts to reduce their environmental footprint. The award will acknowledge the exhibitors that the judges believe make the best us of the 3 R's (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) and in so doing have made the largest effort to have a sustainable presence at the Exhibition.

The judging panel will consist of members from Qatar's Ministry of Environment and local non-government organizations. In assessing the Sustainable Stand Award, judges will consider.  Read more.

Every three years the World Petroleum Council recognises the best initiatives for Technological Development and Social Responsibility in the oil and gas sector with the WPC Excellence Awards. A highlight of the Congress, the Awards will be presented to the winners and runners up at the Awards Ceremony on the first day of the Congress.
