20th WPC Call for Papers now open until 31st March 2011

In order to provide everybody with the maximum time to prepare abstracts for the 20th WPC Call for Papers, the World Petroleum Council has decided to extend the submission period until the 31st March 2011. Industry experts and specialists are invited to contribute to the 24 Forum topics selected by the expert panel of the WPC Congress Programme Committee. Read more.

20th World Petroleum Congress Offers Exceptional Prizes for Young People

Young people under 35 are invited to submit abstracts for the 20th WPC Call for Papers with the chance to win a place at the event and compete for one of the three top prizes at the WPC Youth Awards. The 20th WPC Organizing Committee has pledged more than US$10,000 in prize money to be awarded to the best youth presenters. The winner will receive US$5,000, while second and third place winners will be granted US$3,000 each.  Read more.

20th WPC Now Accepting Submissions for Social Responsibility Global Village

The 20th WPC Organizing Committee is inviting companies and organisations to submit projects and initiatives they believe best illustrate the link between corporate social responsibility and human development. The Committee is particularly interested in projects that encourage open collaboration and partnerships between non-governmental organisations and petroleum companies. Read more.

Sustainability is Key Consideration in Planning for the 20th WPC

The State of Qatar acknowledges that hosting an event like the 20thWPC has environmental impacts. The main goal is to promote positive impacts of the event and implement strategies to minimize potential challenges associated with staging the 20th WPC.

One of the main focus points of the 20th World Petroleum Congress is hosting a sustainable event. In order to do this we need to use natural and human resources in such a way that has a positive impact on society and the environment, for now and the future. 20th WPC wants to leave a legacy behind that sets a new benchmark for hosting sustainable events in Qatar. FIRST / World Petroleum appointed as Publisher of the 20th WPC Official Publication

The World Petroleum Council has appointed the London-based publisher FIRST to produce the Official Publication of the 20th World Petroleum Congress. The Official Publication of the 20th World Petroleum Congress will examine the strategic issues facing the oil and gas sector with case studies and commentary from a distinguished panel of CEOs, government officials and energy experts. Covering the key topics on cooperation, innovation and investment to be discussed at the Congress, it will provide a valuable reference source for delegates who will attend the Congress as well as more than 60 member countries of the World Petroleum Council, who represent over 95% of the world’s major oil and gas producing and consuming countries. He will be supported by a team from the 20th WPC and the Secretariat who will be represented with a table to promote the upcoming Congress in Qatar at this important annual event.
